Team Structure
Does your team structure fit your strategy?
When evaluating your team's structure, it's important to keep your location, staff, resources, and company culture in mind. Some LG agencies serve rural communities and others are in metropolitan areas, so team structures will vary. It is important to assess what your opportunities are before jumping right in and making changes.
Evaluate what kind of growth is possible in your area. You can check with the chamber of commerce to obtain information, such as current and future projected households, average age of the population, median income, and the available premium potential.
If there are only 2,000 homes in the marketing area and your agency already writes 1,600 of them, there's no point in hiring a producer and developing an aggressive personal lines marketing plan in that location.
As you evaluate your team structure, what's most important is finding the fit that will drive the results you are looking for. Make sure you understand what your clients' needs are and adjust your structure accordingly.
Do you have the right staff in place to reach your goals in the timeframe you desire?
What are the market conditions and competition like in your area?
What is the sales potential for each location (if multiple)?
Are you utilizing your staff efficiently?
Should you go remote?
Should you hire a producer?
What are your clients' service expectations?
